Long before there was any development in the area, a quiet moment in nature gave rise to the name Pierced Oak. When April Wilkerson’s grandparents first purchased the land over three decades ago, it was an untouched expanse of open space and towering oak trees. During one walk, her grandfather placed a stick into the crook of an oak tree and wandered off. Years later, he discovered that the tree had grown around the stick, encasing it in its bark. That tree became known as the Pierced Oak, and the name has remained ever since.
Throughout her childhood, every visit to the property included a family tradition of searching for the Pierced Oak—an experience that deepened her connection to the land. Now, as the property is thoughtfully transformed into Pierced Oak RV Park, the original tree still stands and has been carefully preserved throughout construction. A commemorative plaque will share its story with visitors, honoring the legacy that inspired it.
The name Pierced Oak was never a marketing decision—it was already part of the land’s story. Passed down through three generations, the property continues to be a place rooted in family, history, and a deep love for nature. Today, the iconic silhouette of the Pierced Oak tree is proudly reflected in the park’s logo, welcoming guests to experience the same sense of wonder and tradition that shaped it from the beginning.
Just arrived at the park few days ago. Finding the park was last minute due to the fact my other long term park was a complete dump. Being last minute the staff were like family right from the beginning. What a beautiful park and others have said, one if not the most beautiful I've ever stayed at.
